Every so often (well, more often than not) I’ll be on the fence about some music that I tried once but never took the time to fully listen, which actually turns out to be worthy of my time. That is what happened with Right Away, Great Captain!, a band I had forgotten about until my friend showed me the other day. Right Away, Great Captain! is a concept solo project from Manchester Orchestra’s lead singer Andy Hull. The concept revolves around some sailor that travels out to sea for years, then comes home and learns that his wife has had an affair with the sailor’s brother… making it like the plot of that manipulative film Brothers way before the fact. That is as far as I have read into the concept and the music could tell the story much better than I could. But seeing as Andy Hull is good friends with the likes of Jesse Lacey and Kevin Devine, you already know that his music is as good as theirs.
